Individual Counseling

As individuals there are a variety of challenges that we may face daily. I work with both school- aged children and adults individually to help you address difficulties such as:

  • Adjustments and Life Transitions

  • Anxiety

  • Anger Management

  • Behavior and Emotion Regulation

  • Bullying

  • Depression

  • Family of Origin Issues

  • Grief and Loss

  • Identity Exploration and Formation

  • Self-esteem

  • Stress Management

Family Counseling

I believe that healthy family relationships are critical in order to support your own personal growth. However, as a member of your own family, sometimes it is hard to create the changes you need. Within a neutral and safe environment, I will bring your whole family together to address issues such as:

  • Adjustment and Life Transitions

  • Attachment Issues

  • Communication

  • Parenting

  • Family Relationship Conflicts (Parent - Child or Sibling Relationships)

  • Separation / Divorce

*Please note that although my degree is in Marriage and Family Therapy, I do not provide marital or couple counseling. However, I would be happy to provide a recommendation to a clinician that does provide this service.

Trauma Counseling

Traumatic events can have a tremendous effect on our mental health and can overwhelm our ability to cope with every day stressors. Through the use of evidence-based treatments such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), let me help you regain control over your life by addressing:

  • Abuse (emotional, neglect, physical, sexual, domestic violence)

  • Community Violence

  • Complex Trauma

  • Early Childhood Trauma

  • Military Trauma

  • Natural Disasters

  • Racial-Ethnic Trauma

  • Serious Accidents or Illness

  • Traumatic Grief or Loss

Consultation and Training

I provide consulting and training for mental health professionals, schools, and organizations on the following topics:

  • Acknowledging and Addressing Racial Trauma in Clinical and Higher Education Contexts

  • Resiliency Within the Black Community - Specifically Culturally Relevant Parenting Practices, such as Ethnic-Racial Socialization commonly referred to as "The Talk"

  • Mental Health Topics such as Self-Care Strategies, Trauma, and Introductions to Family Therapy
